Our itinerary for the Sicily tour for wine lovers 2017 will last 9 days starting in Catania leading to some of the nicest holiday spots in the south-east to discover local wine, traditional cuisine as well as history, culture and relax.

Start of the 9-day guided wine tour in Sicily

On the first day, we will take our guests to the winemaking company Barone di Villagrande, a resort sitting on Mount Etna dating back to 1815, surrounded by biologically cultivated vineyards, where winemaking traditions have been handed down for centuries.

The second day of the wine tour in Sicily will be focused on the exploration of Mount Etna, Europe’s biggest active volcano, for a truly one-of-a-kind experience. When it’s time for lunch, you will be welcomed at the exclusive cellar Cottanera, an extraordinary winemaking company operating in Italy and worldwide. In the afternoon, we will be paying a visit to cellar Passopisciaro, where you will marvel at one of the best wine boutiques around Mount Etna.

On the third day, we will head to Taormina, one of the island’s most popular destinations. A local guide will show you the town’s historical areas whereas at lunchtime, in the afternoon and at dinner you will be free to explore every corner of this town independently and according to your will.

Dessert and wine tasting in Sicily

On the fourth day, we will move southward towards Siracusa and Noto, where we will be spending the entire day. The lunch will be held at a traditional charcuterie of Ortigia, where in the afternoon our guide will show you around Noto and its baroque-style wonders, declared UNESCO world heritage site. Here you will have the honour to meet the well-known pastry chef Corrado Assenza and sample some of this land’s sweetest delicacies. The day will draw to a close with a dinner accompanied by wine tasting and overnight stay at the famed Locanda Gulfi.

The baroque-style beauties will blend with the taste for chocolate on our fourth day: indeed, during our tour you will discover Ragusa and Modica. The day will begin with a visit at the cellar of Locanda Gulfi and later Cantica Cos in Vittoria, where we will also have lunch. In the afternoon, we will take some time to admire the picturesque walkways of Ragusa Ibla whilst after reaching Modica we will plan a chocolate tasting at Antica Dolceria Bonajuto (Bonajuto Ancient Pastry Shop).

The final days of the Sicily tour for wine lovers 2017

On the sixth day, we will lead you to discover Agrigento and the Valle dei Templi (Valley of the Temples). We will be starting our day at Tenuta Mandranova, a farmhouse where we will arrange a traditional and special lunch with tastings of extra virgin olive oil. In the afternoon, we will marvel at the wonderful archaeological park with a private guided tour and eventually head to Menfi at Guesthouse Planeta Estate.

On the seventh day, we will move towards the Salt Road between Trapani and Marsala learning how to extract salt from the sea: an ancient technical which was first practiced by Greeks and Phoenicians. In Marsala, we will visit the famed cellar of Donnafugata with lunch and wine tastings included. During the afternoon, we will pay a visit to Erice, a man-sized medieval town, with a stop and tastings at the well-known pastry of Maria Grammatico.

The eighth day of the Sicily tour for wine lovers will focus on the exploration of Palermo and its historic food market besides the stunning town of Monreale. A spectacular and unheard-of tour in this town inhabited by so many wonderful souls. The last night will be spent at Piazza Borsa Grand Hotel while, in the morning, we will leave from the airport of Palermo bidding farewell to this unforgettable land after nine days.
